But who is Hangry??
Hangry is a house cat who thinks he is a feral...but he isn't. He was a bottle baby foster from a local shelter who had an appetite that was insatiable. As he grew he would climb over his enclosure to other foster kittens and eat their food. He is the most food driven cat I have ever had. He was labeled as unadoptable due to his aggressive behaviors, and well he does not like strangers much at all (Just ask the UPS man).
Hangry has been trying to keep his feet in both worlds...feral and housecat. He loves stalking and hunting - snakes are his specialty to my chagrin, this has resulted in a few vet visits to treat bites as he has not learned the proper way to carry them and drags them between his legs while he munches on their midsections. Luckily they have been non-venomous to date. He is rather large at 23lbs, so his stalking endeavors are quite comical. Its hard to hide all that squishy, plus he has no patience...again that food drive.
He visits the Sanctuary regularly (hides there when I am calling for him) so there is hope they will share some secrets so he can become a better pretend feral. He truly tries hard...but he also loves his creature comforts, you know the ones that come inside a house....like watching TV stretched out on a couch, drinking from the toilet, etc. And he is afraid of the dark, he absolutely will be at the back door howling to come inside when the streetlights come on. He claims he is the perfect mascot, we think so too!
Recent News
We have been growing faster than expected, and in October 2024 we were contacted about taking in some survivors of a colony of cats that were poisoned in Summerville, SC. There were 12 cats that died and about 15 survivors. We now have 14 of the surviving cats here as we did not want to break up the colony and add to their emotional trauma. They are still acclimating and recovering but at least they are together.
Also recent, we have taken in several kittens from Orangeburg Animal Control that were too young to remain in their shelter. We expect them to be available for adoption in the coming months. We will be adding an adoption page to showcase who is available.
Our needs are growing so your support is appreciated. Vetting costs are getting higher and we rely on community donations to spay/neuter and vaccinate all cats that come into our sanctuary. Food donations are always welcome. Contact us if you have used items that we may be able to use!
